The Nilgiri hills — Ooty's colonial hill station, the palaces of Mysore and the coffee estates of Coorg.
October to March is the comfortable window across the Nilgiris, with Mysore at its most striking during Dasara. Ooty is cool year-round and gets busy in Indian summer holidays.
Routes usually start at Coimbatore, climb to Ooty for a few nights, then cross to Mysore and finish in the coffee country of Coorg.
